Song in my Head

The theme to “Diff’rent Strokes”, because what might be right for you, may not be right for some.  Also because I had some crazy dreams about that trio last night.

They got nothin’ but their jeans.

I love 2 things

Right now I am sitting outdoors, in the backyard with Bill. We are enjoying cold adult beverages and just had a delicious dinner. Bill recently installed an outdoor speaker, so we are also enjoying XM on Direct Tv. Usually fans of The Loft, today we are listening to Fred, which seems to be an early alternative station. This station is the first thing I love. There are so many wonderful songs that I haven’t heard in ages by U2 and the Cure and the Smithereens. The music is playing outside through the television which is hooked up to the surround sound, and we keep going into the house to see who the current artist is. This led me to thing number two that I love…The Internet! There’s a website, xmfan.com, that updates every channel every 5 seconds to let me know the song and artist! I love the future.

Flickr-ageous!

I have a few pictures uploaded on Flickr.  I am very new to photography, I got a Rebel XTi for Christmas, that’s how new I am.  Anyway, someone chose one of my Flickr pictures as a FAVORITE!  That’s right, a favorite.  I’m really really really excited about this.  I really don’t think anything I’ve taken is that good (yet), but maybe there’s hope after all.

Here’s a little sample.

One of my favorites.

The Melting-the-roof-of-your-mouth-Pot

We ate at the Melting Pot for the first time last night. There’s been quite a build up over the past year or two since this restaurant opened, “You’ve got to go to the Melting Pot” “It’s soo good” etc. I have to say, I was…well..unimpressed. I don’t like to cook, so when the meat entree came, I was kind of surprised that the server brought out a tray of raw meat. I really thought I’d just be dunking some (cooked) meats into a brothy/sauce concoction. Also, that shit was hot. I don’t know if our burner was left on too long or what, but that jonk was boiling like crazy. I eventually reached under the table and turned it off myself, no big deal. I definitely don’t think the entree was worth the $$. Oh, wait, let me add another $, because it was also pretty pricey. I knew that it would be, but I suppose I was expecting some sort of fondue feast (that I don’t really feel like I got).

All that said, the cheese fondue was very tasty, and the chocolate, well, can you really say anything bad about chocolate fondue? It was truly awesome. We had the Smores, which was milk chocolate with marshmallow creme and graham cracker crumbles. Mmmmm, I could eat a pot right now and it’s 8:30 am. There was also wine :) .

Summation: this was quite an experience, not what I expected though. I would probably not go back for the entire meal, but I would go back just for the chocolate (and wine). 3 Stars.

Who’s too lazy to post?

It’s me…but here’s some sangria I made….

It’s probably not true sangria, because there’s no brandy or whatever in it…but it was delicious. The recipe is from Trader Joe’s, as is the wine. I really just jammed a bunch of different fruits in there and soaked it for a couple of hours. Next time, I’ll probably leave out the lime, as it was a little lime-y.

Bill also made a pie.

Lemon Meringue = delish.

For those interested in what I might look like, here’s a reasonable facsimile.

It’s fairly accurate.
